If you're looking for convenience in depositing your checks, you want Remote Check Deposit. Through our mobile app, our Remote Check Deposit service allows you to photograph checks using an Apple® or Android™ device and electronically deposit them into your Georgia Heritage account.


This electronic or digital deposit service is quick, safe and simple to use. By using your iPhone or Android™ phone or tablet to take a photo of a check, you can remotely transmit your digital deposit to your account, anytime from anywhere.

RCD FAQs

What is Remote Check Deposit (RCD)?

This new feature on the mobile platform will allow you to deposit funds to your Georgia Heritage deposit account remotely by taking a photo of the check(s) via your Apple® or Android™ device.


Is there a fee to use Remote Check Deposit?

No, RCD is free to eligible Georgia Heritage members (i.e., members in good standing).


How does it work?

Using the Georgia Heritage Mobile App, click on Make Deposit, choose your account, enter deposit amount, and take photos of both sides of your endorsed check. You will receive confirmation of your deposit once it's been posted.


What types of checks are eligible for Remote Check Deposit?

Only complete (full MICR) domestic checks made payable to the owner(s) of your Georgia Heritage account and endorsed on the back are accepted. Checks may be rejected if they are incomplete, post-dated or stale-dated, made payable to a third party, or stamped with a "non-negotiable" watermark. Be sure your checks have no evidence of alteration or contain a restrictive endorsement. Savings Bonds are not eligible for RCD.


Should I endorse the back of the check?

Yes. Your endorsement should include your signature and the account number to which you are making the deposit.


What happens after I deposit the check?

After you deposit the check, Georgia Heritage receives it into a review queue. We will review the check and accept the item to be posted within one business day. (Note: Funds may not be immediately available. See Funds Availability Policy*.)


When will the deposit post to my account?

The Remote Check Deposit will post to your account within one business day. If your check is received by 3:30 p.m. today, the item will be posted to your account within one business day. Any check received after 3:30 p.m. will not post until after midnight the next business day. Please remember that weekends and holidays are not considered "business" days.


How will I know when a deposit has been posted to my account?

You will receive an email letting you know that it has posted. If your deposit is rejected from the review queue, you will receive an email telling you the reason your deposit was rejected.


* What is the Remote Check Deposit Funds Availability Policy?

Our general policy is to allow you to withdraw funds deposited in your account within two business days after the day of deposit. In some cases, we may release funds immediately or delay your ability to withdraw funds for up to nine business days.


I received an email stating that my deposit was posted and I see it in my account. Should I destroy the check now?

Although most check images clear the account on which the check is drawn without any problem, we ask that you retain the check in a safe place for 60 days after the deposit has posted. Be sure to mark it as an item you have already deposited so that it is not inadvertently re-deposited by mistake.
