Owned
and operated by members with their own collective savings, Georgia
Heritage Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution.
We operate not for charity, but for service, making ours a different
philosophy. Unlike banks and other financial institutions that are
in business for profit, your credit union returns its profits to
you, the member, in the form of dividends and quality services.
History
of Georgia Heritage FCU
Union Bag Federal
Credit Union was chartered in April 1940 to serve the employees
of Union Bag, a paper factory located in Savannah, Georgia. Twenty-one
years later, the credit union changed its name to reflect the new
name of its sponsor. We became known as Union Camp Savannah Federal
Credit Union.
In 1999, the credit union
was granted a charter conversion to be able to serve Select Employee
Groups besides Union Camp, now known as International Paper. During
1999, the credit union under went another name change. Growing into
the next century with our members, Georgia Heritage FCU cherishes
its past while welcoming the future.
